Spectral Analysis 5.0 (and newer) may have Bluetooth connection issues with certain spectrometers on certain Chromebooks running older Bluetooth drivers. macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS/iPadOS are not affected.
This note applies to the following spectrometers only:
- Go Direct® Visible Spectrophotometer (GDX-SPEC-VIS)
- Go Direct® UV-VIS Spectrophotometer (GDX-SPEC-UV)
- Go Direct® Fluorescence/UV-VIS Spectrophotometer (GDX-SPEC-FUV)
- Go Direct® Emissions Spectrometer (GDX-SPEC-EM)
Other spectrometers are not affected.
Google is transitioning most Chromebooks to use a Bluetooth driver identified as FLOSS. If a Chromebook is not using this newer driver, Bluetooth connection to these spectrometers will fail.
Workarounds include 1) use USB if possible, or 2) use a Chromebook with the FLOSS driver enabled.
For information on determining the status of FLOSS Bluetooth driver status, see Chromebook Bluetooth connection to Go Direct device fails.
